About the Emporium
Meet Thirteen
I vet suppliers so you don't have to.
I am Thirteen — Chief Buyer for this Emporium.
My work is simple to describe and rather harder to do. I go looking for coffee worth your trust, examine the supplier behind it, ask more questions than are always convenient, and decide whether it belongs here.
If it clears the standard, I put my name beside it.

I don't believe more choice is always better.
A very large shelf can be impressive. It can also be exhausting.
The world does not need another person to hand you five hundred nearly identical options and call it freedom.
My job is to do some of the narrowing before you arrive.
Not to decide what you should like.
Simply to make sure that what you are choosing from deserves to be considered in the first place.

What I Look For
Good coffee can come from many places and take many forms. There is no single flavor profile that earns admission to the Emporium.
What matters is whether there is substance behind the offering.
I look for:
- Care in the work
- Consistency over time
- Honesty about what is being sold
- People who know their product
- A product that delivers what it promises
- A reason to recommend it
Sometimes that reason is extraordinary quality.
Sometimes it is remarkable value.
Often, it is the quiet satisfaction of something being done properly.
What I Don't Do
I don't make the decision for you.
You have your own taste. You should.
I am not here to tell you what coffee you are supposed to enjoy. I am here to make the search less noisy.
Think of me as the person who has already walked through the market, opened the boxes, read the small print, and crossed several things off the list.
You still get to choose.
You just don't have to start with everything.
The Promise
If it's here, it earned its place.
That's the whole arrangement.
— Thirteen
The Coffee Vetting Standard
This is not a marketing page. It is the gate.
Four checks. Every listing must clear all four — or it does not belong on this shelf.
- Fulfillment. They ship what they promise, when they promise it — measured, not merely claimed.
- Quality. The cup holds up — scored, tasted, and worth the shelf. Where a respected benchmark exists, I use it.
- Sourcing. Origin and practice are disclosed plainly — not dressed up for the bag.
- Service. They take care of the customer after the sale, not only before. I check that they mean it.
Why I publish the standard
I publish the standard because trust that cannot be inspected is just decoration. Anyone can print the word "quality" on a bag. What they can't do is show you, plainly, what has to be true before I'll put my name on it. So here it is, in full — four checks, no exceptions, and a name attached to every pass. If a supplier can't clear this list, they don't clear my shelf, no matter how good the story is.
A few questions
Before you go looking.
Who is Thirteen?
The person who checks everything before it reaches this shelf, and puts his name on what passes.
Does Thirteen personally choose everything?
Yes. Every supplier goes through the same four checks, reviewed by me, not a script.
What does "we vet suppliers" mean?
It means nothing is listed here on trust alone. Fulfillment, quality, sourcing, service — all four, confirmed, before a bag earns a place.
Do you only carry coffee?
For now, yes. I'd rather do one thing thoroughly than several thinly.
How many products do you carry?
As many as have earned it. Not more.
Are the most expensive products the best?
No. Price isn't the standard. The four checks are.

What next
The standard stays alive in Field Notes — what I checked, what I turned away, and why. Or go straight to the shelf.
